On the eve of their must-win game against England, India’s captain, MS Dhoni, says that the batsmen have to sacrifice their batting position for the team if India are to retain their World Cup title.
This indirectly refers to the team management’s call to send Virat Kohli, at number four in the ongoing One-Day International tri-series.
Kohli’s dismal performance in the tri-series has raked up a debate about whether it was the right move on the part of the team management.
Dhoni, who captained India to World Cup glory in 2011, has stated the decision was taken keeping in mind India is fragile middle order.
"It is also important to look at the XI you're playing and decide which batsman batting where will benefit the team most," he said.
"So a batsman who loves to bat at a certain position will have to sacrifice. By the start of World Cup we'll have a better picture of who bats where."
