Anushka Sharma, Australia-England Tri-Series 2015, Cricket World Cup, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

In a decision that is bound to shock all cricket fans in India, One-Day International (ODI) vice-captain Virat Kohli has decided to back out from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, as the team shortlisted by the selectors does not match his expectations! The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) have released a 15-member squad for the tournament in Australia and New Zealand along with a 17-man squad for the Australia-England Tri-Series starting January 16 on Tuesday.
The team for the Tri-Series, led by MS Dhoni, features Stuart Binny and Axar Patel along with the three Sharmas namely Rohit Sharma, Ishant Sharma and Mohit Sharma. Mohit is excluded from the World Cup 2015 team along with Dhawal Kulkarni, but Kohli’s agony lies in the fact that a certain other Sharma has not come in consideration.
We have exclusive news on this issue where Kohli commented, “Ishant and Rohit are part of the World Cup 2015 squad, but why hasn’t Anushka Sharma made the cut? Her presence has motivated me so much that I have scored three centuries and things have panned my way since we started seeing each other. Couldn’t the BCCI consider her equally important?”
Ever since Kohli has started dating the Bollywood actress, the aggressive batsman’s fortunes have bolstered. The 26-year-old scored two half centuries and a century against Sri Lanka back at home in November, as India whitewashed the neighbours. After crossing the 50-run mark in the third ODI on November 9, the right-handed batsman delivered a flying kiss to Anushka, who was present in the stands at Hyderabad thus making it clear that they are indeed a couple.
A lot has happened since then. MS Dhoni announced his retirement from Test Cricket midway during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, passing on the mantle of captaincy to Kohli. The 2013 Arjuna Award-winner continued to express his disappointment by claiming that BCCI could have accommodated his lady love for the Australia-England Tri-Series or as a cheerleader!
“It is understandable that the World Cup is a big tournament and selectors don’t want me to be distracted. But the least they could have done is include her for the Tri-Series or if not as a cheerleader! Why take Mohit Sharma in the squad and rub salt into my wounds?” he added.
The selectors have to ponder over who their new vice-captain will be if Virat Kohli does not agree to play. Will the selectors manage to persuade Kohli to not withdraw from the squad or will they be forced to bow down to the vice-captain’s demands of having Anushka Sharma make the trip alongside the team?
