ICC Cricket World Cup 1999: Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly among Top 10 run-getters of Tournament

The batting performances in the 1999 World Cup was as much about grit as it was about the swashbuckling 183 by Sourav Ganguly. It was about Steve Waugh’s rescue act against South Africa in the Super Six, it was about Sachin Tendulkar’s emotional 140 against Kenya that he made after returning from his father’s funeral; it was about the countless knocks Lance Klusner played lower down the order for South Africa that defined the tournament. Also Read: ICC Cricket World Cup 1999: Shane Warne, Wasim Akram among Top 10 Wicket-takers of the Tournament
There were a few batting strategies that failed. Abdul Razzaq, famously played higher in the order as a pinch hitter ended up with the least strike-rate (43.36) among all batsmen with 125 or more runs in the tournament. Here’s a look at the highest run-getters in the 1999 ICC World Cup

Surprisingly of the top 10 run scorers, Rahul Dravid emerged with the highest strike-rate (85.52). The Indian batting wall also emerged as the highest run-getter in the tournament. He scored two centuries, but both knocks were under the shadows of more super-human efforts of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
